I know it sounds impossible after the death of your spouse that you will ever have fun again. To even think about laughing or playing without him is just not possible because your grief is too raw.
But time goes by and you will have to learn to live again. It will take effort on your part to seek out opportunities to laugh and play. I found that I would make arrangements to go with friends and then cancel because I just didn't feel up to it. The only way to get myself out there was to join something and make the commitment to be there.
It has been five years for me and this year the "Chick's Night Out" group had a Halloween party. I couldn't wait to dress up and share some laughs with these ladies. They are all widows - different ages and different times as widows but they are all looking to work through their grief and start healing.
I had a great time because it's true that laughter is the best medicine.
