Widows often let their own health slid because they were busy being caregivers to their husbands. Afterwards their grief puts them into a state of non caring but there will come a time when they are ready to take control of their own health.
The first step is to get some tests so you know where you stand. Here is a list of some diagnostic screening tests that are available:
Screening for High Blood Pressure - normal range is 120/80 or below.
Cholesterol Screening - know your levels of cholesterol, HDL and LDL and serum tiglycerides.
DEXA Scan - bone mineral density testing for women at risk of osteoporosis.
Learn about recommended screening tests for your age by going to the following website of the Women's Health Information Center at http://www.womenshealth.gov/
Make sure you have had all the recommended immunizations and keep them current.
