Do not be discouraged. If they seem genuinely sincere in their opinions than take some time to discuss your position. But do not waste your time and energy on those that are merely stirring up drama. When speaking be concise and do not leave room for misunderstandings. When you are in conversation with someone shut out everything else and focus on what you are saying and hearing. This way you will not have any regrets about what was said.
There will always be people that live to discourage others, don't respond to them. You can't control what others think, say or do, but you can avoid them by not hanging around to see or listen to their negative input.
You are an important and valuable person - if they don't appreciate you just for who you are, than they shouldn't qualify for your time or energy. You don't have to prove anything to anyone so stand your ground and refuse to be discouraged by the opinions of others.
When we lost our spouse we were set adrift into a single's world. We had to learn to swim and we made mistakes as we went along. You can't learn unless you are willing to make mistakes so keep your head up and avoid the sharks!!
