I had a lovely walk with my Aunt today. She had been in the hospital and it was great having her home. As we walked she told me that church has not been her mainstay lately. She has gotten a little forgetful and no longer remembers all the people, songs or verses. Now, she is a life long church member, had taught bible school for as long as I can remember and in her day could have quoted from any part of her bible.
But she finds that no one says Hi or approaches her when she is at church. How sad is that? A lifetime member and she no longer feels part of it, no longer cherished and spirituality feed by her own church.
What example are we showing our children and fellow members if we don't honor our seniors in our churches?
