I'm travelling on the road alot these days and sometimes I drive by a tourist area because I'm on a mission to get where I'm going. But this one hot July day I saw the road sign that said "Nackawic - Home of the World's Largest Axe" and decided to check it out.
I bought myself a large ice cream and just took my time walking around the park. As I sat on the bench and looked out over the river I could feel myself slowing down and relaxing. Here I am by myself - what's the big hurry? As widows we can still travel and see our local sights. People come from all over to see what we take for granted.
This summer get out and sight see even if you have to do it by yourself. There is so much to be thankful for and appreciate but I'm often too busy and I take things for granted or miss out because it's not the same by myself. Well get over it!! That is the way it is and it's a poor excuse for staying in on a beautiful summer day.
I enjoyed my ice cream and my visit. My destination will still be there when I arrive so I'm going to be taking more of these little off the road adventures and it will do me good.
